A garden of friendship, rooted in the tropics

Hainan and Thailand share the same tropical monsoon climate. They also share a deep bond in agriculture.

On her Hainan visit, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn toured the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences in Haikou — home to over a thousand species of tropical flora.-

She walked through the greenhouses, examined the plants up close, and asked detailed questions about each species — its characteristics, yields, and history of introduction.

Rubber trees. Tropical orchids. Jackfruit. These green lives that cross the strait have long been a living bridge between China and Thailand.
