Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park Delivers World-Class Conservation Results

As one of China's first five national parks, the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park has spent the past five years forging a distinctive path that takes ecological conservation and local livelihood development hand in hand. Over the past five years, researchers have recorded 91 previously undocumented wild plant and animal species. The Hainan gibbon population has grown to 44 individuals across seven groups, now the only gibbon population in the world that continues to show sustained growth. The park effectively protects more than 95% of Hainan Island's primary forests and over 55% of its natural forests.
