Over 1.4 Million Indonesian Students Shift to Online Learning Amid Forest Fires and Haze

Widespread forest fires and resulting haze have affected many parts of Indonesia, forcing roughly 1.43 million students onto home-based online classes. Indonesia's Ministry of Education says the remote-learning arrangement will stay in place until September 4, with air-quality reviews carried out every three days. Indonesian officials recently pointed out that El Niño has sparked wildfires in parts of Kalimantan and Sumatra, producing thick smoke haze.
